NHPB participated the Asia Pacific Regional Conference in Bali, Indonesia

The Network of HelpAge Partners in Bangladesh (NHPB) participated in the “Asia-Pacific Regional conference on Population Ageing” held from 11 – 14 September 2024, Bali, Indonesia. The Conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of National Development Planning of Indonesia (BAPPENAS), UNFPA, and HelpAge International the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Indonesia.

The Chairperson of NHPB & BWHC Executive Director Mr. Sharif Mostafa Helal along with Mr. Shajedul Qayyum Dulal, the Executive Director of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), Mr. Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive of Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), Dr. Mohsin Kabir, Deputy Director Bangladesh Association for the Aged and Institute of Geriatric Medicine (BAAIGM) and Mr. Tofazzel Hossain, Researcher, Ms. Ferdoushi Begum, Assistant General Manager and Ms. Maisha Maliha Ahmad, Intern- Intergenerational Dialogue from Resource Integration Center (RIC) participated in this Asia Pacific Regional Conference (APRC) representing the NHPB.

Approximately 300 participants from across Asia and the Pacific participated the conference to engage in discussions centered around the theme “Reframing Ageing”. The conference encompassed six thematic strands, including active, productive ageing; climate change and population ageing; communities and ageing societies; technology and ageing; social protection in ageing societies; and caring societies.

The NHPB had a few other bilateral and side-event meetings with the Chief Executive Mr. Cherian Mathews, and Ms. Rhea Tariq, Director of Global Impact, HelpAge International, UK.

The NHPB also had a bilateral meeting with Ms. Elisa Marcon, Humanitarian Programme Manager – Asia, HelpAge International, Italy on the way forward for the older women on Humanitarian grounds particularly, during the natural disaster. Both of them agreed to initiate programs for the aforesaid beneficiaries in near future by establishing a fruitful partnership.
